- If you are replacing an existing box air con or existing split system, or installing new.
- The approximate age of your wiring in your home and if you already have a dedicated circuit for the air conditioner.
- If you do not know this, you can upload a photograph of your switchboard to your online enquiry, or forward us the photograph in a text message. We can usually tell from looking at it.
- What kind of support is required — are you installing on a block or a dry? Are you installing on an internal or an external wall?

Inspection and assessment
Before installing a split system air conditioner, our tradesmen will inspect your premises to ensure a safe and effective installation. This includes:
- Assessment of the potential locations where the indoor air conditioner unit and the outdoor condenser unit will be installed. We encourage customer input and will assist you with our recommendations for the ideal location based on the following considerations:
- Maximising air circulation and most efficient cooling of the room.
- Ease of access for maintenance and cleaning.
- Aiming for close proximity between the indoor unit and outdoor condenser.
- Facilitating proper drainage (and preventing leaks) by connecting the indoor and outdoor unit with the least number of bends in the water pipe.
- Positioning the outdoor unit in such a way that does not impede foot traffic or affect outdoor entertaining areas.
- Minimal obstructions, such as shrubbery.
- Assessment of the existing electrical system to determine if it can support the additional load of the air conditioner and check the condition of your current wiring.
- In almost all cases, where we install a new air conditioner unit, we will also create a dedicated circuit on your switchboard. It is best practice to spread your electrical load over multiple circuits for more efficiency. This also enables fast fault-finding should you have an appliance tripping your system in the future.

Will you require other trades?
In some cases you will require a handyman or plasterer to patch and paint the wall. If you are upgrading from an outdated box air conditioning unit to a split system air conditioning system, it is very likely that you will be left with a hole in the wall as the products are not like-for-like in size. Mountain Man Electrical can arrange this service upon request.
If we are replacing an old split system with a new system in the same location, then your walls may not require any touching up.
